Cracked tortoise shell is a common issue that may lead to serious infection. Typical treatment includes covering the wound with self-curing epoxy resin or spraying calcium phosphate to increase the bony content. However, the non-medical grade resin and calcium phosphate powder may result in further infection due to bacterial contamination. Novus therefore provides a cost-effective treatment solution with superior efficacy, ease of use and cost effectiveness. The product can be used by a vet or by anyone at home following the given instructions.
Our cement formulation contains nano-hydroxyapatite and self-setting co-polymer to fix broken shell of turtle, tortoise or even the exoskeleton of other reptiles. The product is manufactured under strict cleanroom requirements (ISO 14644) and sterilized for use as external fixation of the exposed endoskeleton (the shell) or exoskeleton. The formation is available in different volumes based on the size of the crack in the shell or exoskeleton.
